Fully automated transformer dryer units for power plants

AVT has designed and manufactured its own transformer dryer, which can run two vacuum lines independently with a single pump at the same time.

The system monitors and controls each vacuum line pressure separately. This is particularly suited to evacuating transformers that are not vacuum-rated, and transformers with a membrane between two chambers.

The system has its own on-board touchscreen control system, data collection such as dew pint, parts-per-million (PPM), temperature, and vacuum level. It also features an easy process for recipe editing, which minimises installation and supervision costs.

Using the latest drying technology the system has a pumping speed of 1,925m³/hr to an optimum vacuum level of 1 x 10mbar-3mbar.

This system really is as simple as connect, power and pressing start.

Dual and triple gas analysers for power generation

We offer a range of dual and triple gas analysers manufactured by Cambridge Sensotec, including a specialist SF6 gas analyser for the power industry.

These come in a range of portable and bench-mounted oxygen and SF6 gas analysers for industry and academic institutions.

Rapidox SF6 gas analysers benefit from their user-friendly operating system, electrochemical sensors, high-sensitivity, rugged design and long life expectancy.

SF6 gas servicing carts for sulphur hexafluoride processing

The ENERVAC SF6 Gas Servicing Cart is designed to process sulphur hexafluoride used in high-voltage metal-clad switch gear, bus ducts, accelerators, circuit breakers and transformers that are charged during normal operation with SF6 gas as a dielectric.

The cart removes SF6 gas from equipment, as well as liquefying and storing the gas in the on-board storage tank.

The servicing cart evacuates the serviced equipment for dry-out prior to re-charging using on-board re-evaporating SF6 gas and refilling evacuated equipment.

Purification of SF6 gas is achieved by absorption and removal of decomposition products and moisture.

Vacuum oil purifiers for electrical insulating liquids

ENERVAC’s high-vacuum transformer oil purifying process is used to dehydrate and remove gas from electrical insulating liquids, including transformer oils, polybutene and silicone fluids, to increase and maintain their dielectric strength.

The processing includes the removal of free and soluble water, dissolved air and gases, as well as particulate matter.

Degasifiers, also known as transformer oil purifiers, can be applied in extra high voltage transmission and in the manufacturing of electrical apparatus. In addition, the high vacuum process is used in the degasification of cable oils, including polybutene.

Outside of the electrical industry, this process is used for electronic and radar equipment, vacuum pump sealing oils, brake fluids and refrigeration oils, such as phosphate esters and silicones.

Mobile and stationary units are available in sizes 50GPH to 6,000GPH (190l/h to 23,000l/h).

Vacuum dehydration for transformer oil and insulation

Water can be removed from a transformer using a vacuum dehydration process.

Transformers with 5% moisture or higher can be dried to acceptable levels without taking the transformer out of service.

Enervac’s ENERDry transformer Dry out system removes moisture from transformer oil and insulation without using paper filters, maintains low moisture levels in transformer oils in service, and can dry transformers not braced for vacuum. It also features a safety system, which isolates the unit in case of alarm or power failure.

The transformer is available with optional extras, such as a transformer oil level monitoring system, hygrometer, and Doble Domino sensor.

Transformer oil regeneration systems

The mobile ENERVAC E575R is ideally suited for processing transformers that are either on or off-load. The skid-mounted E575R is suitable for tank farm applications

The ENERVAC E575R Transformer Oil Regeneration System provides an extremely cost-effective and environmentally acceptable method of extending the oil life.

ENERVAC’s unique control system allows for 24-hour processing without having to shut the E575R down. Once reactivated, the bank is ready for processing.

On average, between 300 and 500 reactivations per bank ensure that the media only needs to be changed every three to five years. Once exhausted, the media is reactivated one final time and is then discarded as dry waste
