Mass Spectrometry
AVT Services can offer a wide range of turbo molecular and diffusion pumps for the high vacuum chambers of mass spectrometers. We also have a wide range of rotary vane scroll pumps, vacuum gauges and fittings for repairing and upgrading analytical instruments.
Requirements;
Fast pumping to ensure high throughput.
High vacuum to very high vacuum for maximum sensitivity.
Clean oil free vacuum to reduce noise background and improve instrument sensitivity.
Reliable system with minimum service requirements.
Pump service and repair.
Primary Vacuum
AVT offer a wide range of low vacuum pumps for sample insertion, chamber backing and sample preparation. For many applications and older instruments, a rotary vane backing pump is suitable. Our range of Edwards pumps covers a range of pumping speeds from 0.9 to 32.3 m3h-1.
For clean oil free applications, scroll pumps are an excellent alternative where oil free pumping is preferred. The XDS35i has been developed for typical mass spectrometer applications. The pumping speed is 35m3h-1 and the bearings are completely removed from the vacuum and process gasses. The pumping speed is also independent of the mains frequency.
High Vacuum
Modern mass spectrometers normally use turbo molecular pumps for their high vacuum requirements. AVT can offer turbo molecular pumps with ceramic bearings, compound ceramic and magnetic bearings or all magnetic bearing technology. We also exchange or repair turbo pumps.
Old turbo or diffusion pumped systems can also be upgraded to cleaner vacuum standard ceramic bearings.
